LOST ANTIQUE PHOTOGRAPHS - DEAN ALBUM 1 - BATMAN, WILSON, COX, CARMEN, RUST
4/29/2022 01:36:00 PMI seek to digitally preserve historical photos for others that might be looking for them. When possible I reunite the original copies with descendants, free of charge. Here are more photos in my ever growing collection.
If any of these are your ancestors please contact me.
I purchased this unique wooden album off of Ebay a little while ago and have been trying to piece its members together into a family tree on ancestry. This one is proving more challenging than normal as the families in this area with these surnames intermarried a lot over a few short generations.
This album belonged to Sarah Catherine DEAN, daughter of John DEAN and Mariah COX
It was purchased by her or gifted to her on September 17th, 1880 and contains photos of family and friends. Here are some of the individuals I've identified so far:
No established biological relation to Sarah C. DEAN at present.
Lived close to the family in Putnam Indiana.
The only identification on this photo is: Sam BATMAN's sister. Based on her manner of dress and hair, this photo was likely taken sometime between 1867-1875. Sam had three older sisters, Sarah J., Francis Caroline, and Lucinda Ann. Sarah J. BATMAN died in 1867 in her 14th year so this certainly could be a photo of her. The photos I've found of Francis and Lucinda are from when they are very old so it is difficult to detect any resemblance. At this point I just don't know which sister this is.
Lesley Wilson was the brother of Lina Wilson who married Jesse Amos DEAN, who was Sarah DEAN's brother
I haven't established a biological relationship to Sarah DEAN's family yet but the Rust's lived close to them in Putnam County Indiana.
Identified as Aunt Harriet White.
This is Harriet COX WHITE, one of Sarah DEAN's aunt's.
Identified as Ollie WHITE.
This is Oliver WHITE, son of Harriet COX WHITE and cousin of Sarah DEAN
Identified as Lela Carmen.
This is Lelia Belle WHITE, later CARMAN
Identified as Tea COX, Kate, and Lela CARMAN
This is Eberly Tea COX (standing) and Lelia CARMAN (seated right), both cousins of Sarah DEAN.
Kate is referenced in another photo as being Kate Hester. This may in fact be Sarah Catherine DEAN, since Sarah married James Albert HESTER. More research is needed to verify if Sarah went by her middle name of Catherine, shortened to Kate.
Identified as Tea COX. This is Eberly Tea COX
Identified as Mag Cox. This is Margaret COX, later BOYD. Maggie was the sister of Tea COX and cousin of Sarah C. DEAN.
Identified as Della COX. Clothing dates this to ca. 1883-1888.
I believe this is Mary Delola COX, known as Della COX.
She was another 1st cousin of Sarah C. DEAN
